Moms everywhere get so little time sometimes to get into a regular home exercise program. Not only do they get so busy taking care of kids, some of today's moms also work at home which all the more does not allow them enough time to go to a gym or join a health club. There are errands to meet, shopping to do, housework, soccer practice, and school meetings that can all occupy a mom's precious time.
If you're a busy mom, but would still want to get into a regular home exercise routine without having to go to the gym, think of ways which will allow you to stay fit despite your busy schedule. Here are some suggestions that may help:
1. Try doing exercises with your kids.
Some new moms have found out that they can incorporate a little exercise with their afternoon walk in the park with their babies. You can try doing this yourself, by taking long walks while you push your baby's stroller, or if you have older kids, you can take a walk in the park with them. Not only will these be excellent cardio exercises, but it will also give you some time to bond with your kids.
You can get your kids to help you tidy up the kitchen, the dining room or the living room. You can make this a fun activity as well, like turn it into a contest, by setting a timer, and finding out who can finish a task the fastest. You'll find yourself working out a sweat while doing housework with your kids, which will help you lose pounds in the process. Your children will also learn the value of working at a very young age, if you can train them to help in doing chores at home.
2. Do some outdoor activities with your kids.
It may be a game of frisbee, badminton or an afternoon of swimming. These are good cardio exercises that can also be good for your children's health, plus the extra time you spend with your kids doing these activities will be well remembered when they grow older.
3. Take a walk in the mall.
You can either do this with your kids, or do it while your children are at school. Take a leisurely walk inside a shopping mall near your place and do your shopping at the same time. Because there are so many things to see inside a shopping mall, you may hardly notice that you are already losing calories by walking.
Here's a good tip that you may want to try. Make a list of activities that you can easily incorporate during your day that can give your body some form of home exercise. These don't have to be difficult or complicated activities - it may be just walking in the park, gardening, dancing around the house, cleaning your car. Climbing up and down the stairs is one of the best cardio exercises. If you live at the 5th floor of your condo, for example, why not take the steps, instead of the elevator?
Being a stay-at-home mom has its benefits, but it doesn't mean that because you stay at home most of the time, you no longer have to worry about your figure or your general health. You just need to be creative and find simple, yet effective ways you can home exercise while taking care of your kids. Be sure to keep a healthy diet as well, one that will benefit your whole family.
